The bull is the latest result of the BABS polled breeding program established in 2004, and bred at Gydegaard by Sanne and Erik Poulsen. The dam is the reputable EHG Freja Pp and the sire is Jacob Pp, a bull of a new interesting polled bloodline in the context of Blonde d´Aquitaine.

BABS SNAP PP GD is homozygous polled bull with extreme race qualities. Very fine bones, muscularity, pelvis and a perfect color.  Further information is available on this product card.

28-4-2022: BABS breeders international breakthrough with GG Sebastian PP

Then it will not get bigger. Whether breeding with horses, cattle, dogs or pigeons, it is every breeder's dream to sell self-produced breeding animals to the breed's country of origin. This dream in particular has come true for Sanne and Erik Poulsen, Gydegaard Blonde d’Aquitaine in Arden. As the first Blonde breeders in Denmark and probably also outside France, they have succeeded in selling a pedigree bull to a large French breeding company. In this case Genes Diffusion - one of France's largest breeding companies, owned by 30.0000 French farmers, which with 8 bull stations has approx. 500 bulls in their total breeding program.

The background for the sale is the targeted breeding work that has been carried out for more than 10 years in the breeding company BABS I/S, of which Erik Poulsen is a co-founder. A breeding work with the aim of producing the world's best polled Blonde - an animal that on all parameters must be able to cope with the French horned elite animals. It is this breeding goal that is now finally blue-stamped by the French.

With 4 Interbreed winners and 14 times winners of the herd competition at Landskuet in Herning among major achievements. For the past 18 years, the herd from Arden has been at the forefront of international Blonde d'Aquitaine breeding. That it is nevertheless a difficult needle eye the Poulsen family has now passed is emphasized by the fact that the bull, the 14-month-old homozygous polled, GG SEBASTIAN PP, was first inspected in July 2021, when the bull was in competition with other foreign subjects, as the French are very thorough. After lengthy contract negotiations, plenty of documentation and blood tests, the deal finally fell into place in February, after which the bull was dispatched in early April.

The French interest in the Blondes from the Arden is not new. Already in 2017, Sanne and Erik Poulsen sold a polled bull and two polled females to French elite breeders.

Knud Jørgensen in memoriam

Knud P. Jørgensen

It is with great sorrow we have to inform that our partner and friend, initiator and founder of BABS I/S, Knud Jørgensen died 19 January 2016, 83 years old.

Knud Jørgensen was raised on a traditional farm at Sundeved in southern Denmark, where hard work was the way forward if you wanted to succeed. He had an indomitable will to live and an incomparable humour, which made Knud an inspiring and motivating person.

Knud took in 2004 the initiative to establish BABS I/S in order to speed up the development of homozygote polled Blonde d’Aquitaine animals on basis of the best and highest indexed breeding material available, and by use of modern breeding techniques. He realised that that such breeding work most effectively was handled in a small private organisation. He was convinced that the interest for polled Blonde d´Aquitaine breeding material would increase as long as the quality would be similar to that of the original French type. The result of 12 years breeding work has shown he was right, and BABS Polled Blonde can today offer the best genetic material for polled Blonde d’Aquitane, seen in international perspective. Knud was a modest man and would never take such words in his mouth, but the fact is that BABS Polled Blonde today sells breeding material to more than 10 countries, including France. Furthermore, BABS animals have in recent years been dominating on animal fairs, which is an evidence for the qualities and properties.

Knud had past 70 when he took the initiative to professionalise the work with the polled gene in the Blonde d’Aquitaine breed. With a huge enthusiasm, his vision was to reach the milestone and to experience, that polled Blonde d’Aquitane would have the same high genetic level as the best of the original French pedigree animals, and he succeeded.

Many Blonde d'Aquitaine breeders will be Knud Jørgensen thankful in the years to come. The interest for the polled gene is spreading thanks to Knud, and the development indicates that polled animals will dominate the Blonde d´Aquitaine breed in a few decades.

It has been a privilege and an honour to get the opportunity to know Knud - his commitment, humour and personality was outstanding. He was in all ways a great and skilful person who reached large achievements, and in the same time a pleasant and humble personality.

Our thoughts goes to Birthe and her family.

In honour of Knud Jørgensen.

Her father is BABS Don Juan Pp, and the fine bull calf by her side is a result of the current BABS breeding plan, as the calf has BABS Adventius PP as father. The calf is also full brother of BABS Ignis PP and BABS Ivan PP.
